Plans: Two-Story House Plans

Generally speaking, two-story home plans are those that have two levels, not including the basement. Some may argue that one and a half story plans are more of a ranch plan than a two-story design. For the sake of argument, and for the purpose of finding certain plans on this website, if there is living space on the upper level we have classified it as a two-story plan. Depending largely on the style of the house, two-story homes are more economical to build. This is true mainly because the footprint of the house has been reduced. A simple example is that a 2000 square foot ranch has a foundation approximately twice as large as a two-story plan of the same size. The same can be said of the roof covering both homes. Two-story house plans are available in various sizes and styles ranging from a small vacation home plan to a much larger traditional style home.
